Simone Lenzu

I am an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and a tenured Associate Professor of Economics and Policy at the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School. I am also a Research Affiliate at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR).

Born and raised in Sardinia (Italy), I received my PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor degree and Master of Science from Bocconi University.

    My research

Research interests: Applied Macro, Monetary Economics, Finance, Productivity, and Spatial Economics.

My research sits at the intersection of macroeconomics, financial intermediation, and industrial organization, with a focus on firms' decisions and their aggregate implications.

I study the drivers of productivity growth, the real effects of financial frictions, and the role of real and nominal rigidities in business cycle fluctuations.

Methodologically I work micro-to-macro, pairing rich micro data with reduced-form and structural estimation, together with quantitative models, to move from causal effects to aggregate implications and policy counterfactuals.
